DUDU--    Emperor Kublai Khan, heir to the Mongol Empire of his grandfather Genghis Khan, passed a new decree last week and now it is official. The new caste system is said to be called the “Four Class System” and Khan has reported, “I am certain that this will help consolidate the ruling status of the true Mongolian Ethic Minority.”

When Kublai was first given control over Chinese territories, he became Great Khan of the Mongol Empire. Once given power Kublai immediately began organizing groups of Chinese advisors, while he set up expeditions with the goal of unifying China under the Mongol Empire.

In 1257, disappointed with the war against the Chinese sung dynasty, eldest son of Genghis Khan, Khagan Khan led on expedition into western China but was sadly killed three years later by the Chinese defense Army in 1259. In 1960 (after the death of Khagan Kublai was elected as Khagan’s successor, unfortunately his brother Arig Boge disagreed and announced “I shall be the Great Khan” In the years that followed Kublai fought his brother, eventually he defended him in 1964 and took over power.

Under the rule of Kublai Khan, the Mongols and central Asians remained separate from Chinese life; life for the Chinese was basically left unchanged. Kublai was also thought and known for his acceptance of different religions, but too keep the Mongol minority assured Kublai divided the population of China into four social classes, which we now know as the ‘Four Class System’

In a recent interview, Chao Da clearly stated that “The social classes: are the Mongols ; central Asians; the northern Chinese and Koreans; and the southern Chinese and I for one believe these classes are fairly grouped, regardless of what everyone else thinks !”Although many are satisfied with the new social order, there are still many who feel mistreated. While roaming the streets one of our reporters was able to get a few words out of a local protester by the name of cheng Bo who reported: “unfair! Unfair! The real power is mainly in the hands of first class, and lower classes are receiving different treatment in political, legal, and military situations. Also third and fourth class must participate in more difficult test subjects and exams!”

Although we can’t predict what will happen next, It’s clear that there are many opinions towards the new decree but the majority of people are not handling the news too well. Maybe Kublai Khan has gone too far!
